First Japanese Logistics Company to be Certified to GDPMDS in Singapore[2009.06.11]
Yusen Air & Sea Service (Singapore) (President: Mr. Richard Chua) became the first Japanese logistics company to be certified to GDPMDS (Good Distribution Practice for Medical Devices in Singapore) in May 2009.
Singapore has adopted a national strategy of strengthening its biomedical industry and launched the GDPMDS scheme in 2008. Under the scheme, independent third-party certification bodies accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) and the Health Science Authority (HSA) evaluate and certify the systems that a company has in place for handling medical devices.
By developing a high quality management system in compliance with the requirements of GDPMDS (appropriate procedures, appointment of trained staff, process management and management of structures and facilities), we have strengthened and improved the quality of our integrated distribution service, which covers every aspect of distribution including transportation, storage, repacking and delivery, and we are playing our part in safe and appropriate supply chain management for medical devices. We can now respond to the high expectations of our existing customers. We will also use this certification as an advantage to further expand sales in medical and pharmaceutical industries.
In accordance with our mid-term business plan "YAS FIVE-STAR PROJECT", we are currently developing the systems required of a "Total Logistics Provider" which can provide world-class distribution services. One of our sales strategies is to strengthen marketing activities by product category, and we consider the recent certification of YAS (Singapore) as part of our sales offensive in the medical device field.

YAS (INDIA) Opened New Airport Office in Bangalore to Improve Quality[2009.04.16]
Yusen Air & Sea service (India) (President: Penta Miyazaki) opened a new airport office in Bangalore and started operation on April 1.
Until now, our business activities in Bangalore have been conducted at two locations: a warehouse about an hour away from the airport, and an office in the central business district. By establishing a position close to the freight, we can now provide rapid follow up for customs clearance, and we can now monitor the ULD (*1) assembly work that takes place in the warehouse (something that we cannot do ourselves).
In India at present there are relatively positive trends in the import of white goods and other electrical appliances and in the export of textile products and raw materials. Our office in Bangalore mainly handles the export of medical devices and the import of components for industrial robots and automobiles, and other items associated with electronics. With our logistics operations, which we have been strengthening since last year in particular, we are conducting a delivery business within India, as well as warehousing parts for servicing other products, such as electronic components that have been imported from Asia.
Yusen Air & Sea Service (India) is aiming to increase sales and provide services that are precisely tailored to our customers' needs by continuing to work to improve the quality of our service and to provide information that is even faster and more accurate.
